Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: What is
involved in a new patient appointment, and how much time
should I set aside?
A: A Comprehensive exam, full set of X-rays, and
standard cleaning can take up to an hour and a half. The
exam will include a thorough examination of all the
teeth, gums, and surrounding tissues. Every exam also
includes a discussion of potential treatment options
including necessary treatment and optional treatment.
The doctor will answer all questions regarding any part
of your dental health.
Q: What if I have x-rays from my previous dentist?
A: You may bring them in to your first
appointment, and we can determine if they are recent
enough, and within our standards. If additional x-rays
are necessary, we will let you know. X-rays can also be
e-mailed at
info@priesdental.com.
Q: How much does my insurance cover?
A: Each dental insurance plan is a negotiated
contract between the insurance company and the employer.
As a result, no two insurance plans are the same. The
level of coverage is ultimately determined by the policy
the employer selected. Some companies base their
reimbursements on the actual fee charged while others
base their reimbursement on a table determined by the
employer. Most patients feel their dental health is
important enough to proceed with treatment regardless of
the benefit they will receive from their insurance
company. These same patients have found that by
addressing their dental need in a timely fashion, they
actually save money by avoiding more costly treatment
resulting from neglect.
Our friendly staff will be happy to determine your
insurance benefits for you at no cost. All you need to
do is call our office with your insurance information at
(408)260-0200.
Q: Do you take my insurance?
A: If your insurance allows you to choose any
dentist you like, we can take your insurance. In certain
cases, we may even participate in your network and offer
you even lower rates. If you’d like to know about your
particular insurance, please call our office.
Q: What if I don’t have insurance?
A: Our office is proud to offer non-insurance
patients specific bundles to help with your treatment.
With these bundles, you will receive 10% off treatment.
Please call our office or visit the “Bundle of Smiles
Program” link for additional information.
Q: Do I need to come to my appointment earlier to
fill out paperwork?
A: For your convenience, our new patient forms
are all available on our website under the tab marked
“Forms.” You may download and print the forms, and bring
them to our office at your appointment time. If you do
not have access to a printer, we ask that you arrive at
least 20 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment so
that we may spend the entire appointment discussing your
needs.
Q: What forms of payment are accepted?
A: We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express,
Discover, Care Credit, and Cash.
Q: Do you offer payment plans?
A: Yes, we offer several payment plans for
patients with and without insurance. Many of our plans
allow monthly payments with interest-free financing for
up to a year.
Q: How does your office handle fearful patients?
A: All of our patients are treated gently and
with concern. If you are a dental-phobic patient, we
will assess your level of fear at your initial exam.
Some patients will require sedation and these options
are available and will be discussed. We take pride in
the care we provide our patients and we will respect
your concerns at all times.
Q: When should I take my child to his/her first
dental visit?
A: The ADA recommends regular dental check-ups,
including a visit to the dentist within six months of
the eruption of the first tooth, and no later than the
child's first birthday.
Q: How can I prepare my child for their visit?
A: Please read our article:
